PCL Builders Calgary District is now hiring for projects with steady employment and long-term work in Calgary and Southern Alberta.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with the construction, erection and install of wood and engineered formwork systems for columns, walls, suspended slabs, slab on grade and concrete stairs
  • Stripping and removal of concrete formwork after concrete pours
  • Erect and build scaffolding for access and concrete formwork decks
  • Install anchor bolts and embedded steel for concrete
  • Build hoardings and temporary shelters
  • Controlled demolition and redemise of commercial buildings
  • Rough framing, installation of backing and sheet materials
  • Install finishing components, doors, door frames, hardware and interior commercial finishes
  • Complete task hazard assessments and maintain a safe work environment
  • General labour duties and cleanup as required
  • May work with or near chemicals, cranes and moving equipment

Qualifications   

Candidates Must:

 

  • Be a registered Carpenter Apprentice under Alberta Apprenticeship
  • Have previous work experience in rough carpentry, forming and framing
  • Be in good health and physically fit
  •  

Skills and Attributes

 

  • Able to work at heights and balance on platforms, scaffolds and decks
  • Able to work alone, or as part of a team
  • Display good verbal and written communication skills when working with other employees
  • Knowledge in trade related math and basic survey and layout
  • Hardworking and able to readily accept and apply direction from supervisor
  • Hand and finger dexterity for reaching, handling and feeling while working
  • Other Requirements

 

  • Workers must provide their own safety footwear
  • Workers are required to provide their own basic hand tools as listed in the collective agreement
  • Workers must have reliable transportation, or be able to access jobsites located in any area of the city

Work Conditions 

This position is physically demanding and involves exposure to all elements of outdoor work. Hours for this position are based on a standard 44-hour work week with added overtime as required. Successful candidates will be available to work overtime, evenings, weekends and be available for out of town work. This position requires a keen attention to detail and a commitment to working safe on our jobsites.
